Due to the flood situation, 571 people were evacuated from houses in areas of possible flooding in the Kurgan region, as of the morning of April 8. Thus, an additional 100 people and 31 pieces of equipment from the Ural Training and Rescue and Ural Search and Rescue Centers arrived in the region.

Yesterday, a state of emergency was declared in the Zverinogolovsky municipal district due to the flood, where, according to local authorities, due to a sharp rise in the water level in the Tobol River, there is a high probability of flooding of six settlements. On the morning of April 8, the water level in the river in the area of ​​the regional center reached 504 cm above the post zero, “adverse events” are predicted at a level of 850 cm. On April 5, a state of emergency was also introduced in the Kurtamysh district.

Governor of the Kurgan region Vadim Shumkov in his Telegram channel reported that the flood situation in the region was worsening “due to growing discharges from neighbors.” In particular, according to him, the Kostanay region of Kazakhstan notified an increase in water discharge from reservoirs to 1.5 thousand cubic meters per second from April 5. “This very sharply increases the risk of flooding and flooding of settlements along the Tobol-Kurgan River, villages in Tselinny, Zverinogolovsky, Pritobolny, Ketovsky, Kurtamysh, Belozersky districts. According to preliminary forecast data, these are more than 50 settlements, dozens of gardening areas within the regional center. The situation is aggravated by the fact that the ice on the rivers has not yet passed, the floodplains have not completely thawed,” wrote the head of the region.
