The oil service company TNG-Group announced a reward in the amount of 200 thousand rubles. for a capsule with radioactive cesium-137, which employees lost in the Irkutsk region on January 12. This was stated by the general director of the company, Yan Sharipov. Now two teams with dosimetric equipment and investigative authorities are looking for the capsule.
“The incident occurred as a result of difficult weather conditions, blizzards and hummocks on the winter road. The team covered about 100 km, and as a result of shaking, the source was dropped on the winter road,” explained Mr. Sharipov in video in the company’s Telegram channel. mass media reportedthat the capsule was lost in the Ust-Kutsk region on the way to the Chayandinskoye field.
According to the general director of TNG-Group, the radiation source IGI-Ts-4-2, containing cesium-137, can only be dangerous when the capsule is opened. The source belongs to the fourth category of danger – one of the lowest, noted Yan Sharipov.
The level of background radiation on the surface of the container does not exceed 0.5 mSv/hour, the company specified, at a distance of 1 m from the surface of the container – 0.01 mSv/hour. The radiation situation is considered non-hazardous at a dose rate of up to 0.6 µSv/hour.
