“In the final, the ball fell out of my hands”: the head coach of the RK “Kuban” about the second place in the Russian Cup in snow rugby

Krasnodar “Kuban” took second place in the Russian Rugby Snow Cup among women’s teams. The tournament was held at the end of January in Zelenograd with the participation of 13 teams. Krasnodar confidently won 3 matches, losing in the decisive match only to one of the country’s most titled rugby clubs, VVA-Podmoskovye.

The team’s head coach spoke about the team’s performance for MK in Kuban Maxim Amonov.

– We started playing rugby on the snow last season. And they were able to achieve great results. At the Russian Cup-2022, they also took second place in the same Zelenograd, after which they won the Russian championship in Kazan. Now, as always, we set ourselves the goal of taking first place. The group stage was easy, the semi-final was also simple, – said the specialist.

In the final, Kuban met with the current owner of the Russian Cup in this rugby discipline, VVA-Podmoskovye. Like a year ago, rugby players from Monino turned out to be stronger – 8:2.

– Unfortunately, we did not succeed in this final. After the first missed attempt, the team did not seem to understand each other, the ball just fell out of their hands. The final score is fair, a good opponent, of course, should punish for such confusion. But the tournament was 100 percent useful. You can view the players, see who showed themselves how, draw conclusions and begin to decide on the main squad. Previously, we were transferred Maria Molokoedova and Anna Serova. It is possible that there will be more transfers in the near future.

The head coach of “Kuban” spoke about the team’s immediate plans and interaction with another rugby club of the Krasnodar Territory “Argat” from Ust-Labinsk, which became the sixth in the National Cup.

– Most likely, we will not play rugby on snow this season anymore. We are already planning to start preparations for the resumption of the Russian rugby-7 championship. I would like to go to the training camp and participate in friendly matches. We cooperate well with Argat, sometimes we play friendly matches.

In the “seven” “Kuban” takes 4th place according to the results of 3 rounds and has not lost chances for medals. Four more rounds are ahead in the spring part of the tournament.
