Ukrainian soldiers received life sentences for shooting residents of Mariupol

The court of the Donetsk People’s Republic sentenced two servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces who shot five residents of Mariupol to life imprisonment. The Prosecutor General’s Office reported this.

As it became known, from March to April 2022, at a combat position on Karpov Avenue, soldiers, on orders from the command, shot seven civilians with machine guns. As a result, five people died, and two managed to escape.

The court found 24-year-old Alexander Pecharsky and 48-year-old Sergei Georgiou guilty of murder motivated by political and ideological hatred, assassination attempt, as well as cruel treatment of the civilian population. They will spend the rest of their days in a special regime colony.
