The Czech government canceled nine decrees on the transfer of the USSR to the gratuitous use of real estate in the country for their use for diplomatic purposes. It is reported by Radio Prague International.
According to the publication, we are talking about buildings in Brno, Karlovy Vary, Prague and other regions of the country. In total, the resolution may affect about 59 land plots.
The Czech Foreign Ministry believes that the Russian Embassy cannot use so much property for diplomatic purposes, as the number of diplomats and employees has decreased. The ministry claims that some of the facilities are used for commercial purposes, and the principle of reciprocity is not respected, since Russia has 92,001 square meters in free use. m of land, while the Czech Republic in the Russian Federation has only 26,875 sq. m.
Documents on the transfer of real estate objects for free use were concluded between Czechoslovakia and the USSR from 1972 to 1980. Russia received them as the assignee of the USSR.
In March, it was reported that after the abolition of these decisions, Russia could demand rent for the use of the land. This amount, according to the ministry, could amount to tens of millions of crowns.
