Now they want to arrest him
A new high-profile detention took place after the New Year holidays in the so-called case of narcologists. Fraud charges were brought against Sergei Koporov, director of the Center for Narcology at the Moscow Scientific and Practical Center. Earlier, we recall, a well-known doctor, the president of the same center, Yevgeny Bryun, was detained and placed under house arrest.
The president of the association of narcologists Bryun and his deputy Vladimir Yakushev were detained back in August last year. They were suspected of organizing the purchase of diagnostic devices to detect alcohol and drugs in the blood of drivers at inflated prices. According to investigators, the devices were purposefully purchased from firms affiliated with Yakushev’s relatives.
Apparently, the investigation came to the conclusion that the head of the International Scientific and Practical Center for Narcology Koporov was also involved in fraud. The investigating authorities went to the Tverskoy court with a petition for his arrest on charges of fraud. However, it is possible that the court will take into account the venerable age of the physician (he is 66 years old) and limit himself to house arrest.
Sergei Koporov began his working career in Smolensk. He held the post of head of the department of borderline conditions at the Research Institute of the Ministry of Health, for a long time he headed the narcological dispensary in the Southern District, and in 2017 he headed the International Scientific and Practical Center.
