Nobody wants to go back

Parents of schoolchildren in the border regions are anxiously awaiting the start of the school year. Are their children going to race again? They will not be told for sure until the end of August, but the Ministry of Education of the Belgorod Region has already reported that only those educational institutions that are outside the 20-kilometer border zone are expecting full-time format. This summer, parents in the Belgorod region are taking documents from schools en masse and moving to safe regions so that their children (especially high school students) can receive knowledge “live”.

The Ministry of Education of the Belgorod Region told MK that “the question of the format of the work of educational institutions is still being worked out.” The authorities will make the final decision after August 25, when they will hold meetings with the heads of municipalities and parents.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education of the region has already reported that Belgorod educational institutions are preparing for full-time work in the new academic year. However, they emphasized that, according to the decision of the operational headquarters, “not all educational institutions are allowed to full-time and mixed format of education, but only those that are outside the 20-kilometer border zone.” At the same time, shelters equipped with furniture, a first-aid kit, water and backup lighting should be created in the premises of kindergartens and schools that will receive children in person (schools must report this before August 10), and the staff of such institutions must master the practical skills of providing first aid medical care and knowledge of how to act in an emergency. Written consents to study and work in full-time format will be collected from parents and teachers.

“We were told that the decision on the format of education in our city would be made by the Ministry of Education at the end of August,” a teacher from the city of Valuyki, which is regularly shelled, shared with MK. – But I am sure that there will be a distance, since we have a distance to the border of less than 20 km. Of course, I would like a face-to-face teaching format, since direct communication between a teacher and students cannot be replaced by any distance technologies. But the safety of children is above all, so we are mentally prepared for the distance …

– Since June, we have been renting a two-room apartment in Belgorod for 23,000 rubles. per month, – Anna told MK, who moved with her third-grader son from Shebekino to Belgorod. – In general, we like it here, we settled down normally. I work as a copywriter remotely.

– And where will your son go to school on September 1?

– I’m not in a hurry to transfer my son to a school in Belgorod. It is still not clear whether schools in Belgorod will study full-time. If not, then in this case it makes no sense for me to transfer it from one distance to another. Another thing is that it will be easier for us from Belgorod to study remotely using a computer, since the connection is better here. But how will Shebekin’s children study?! Shebekino has very bad internet. Parents wrote a request about the Internet to the district administration, but there was no answer.

“Our children will not be taken to schools in Belgorod, the governor has already announced this,” another mother of a schoolboy from Shebekino shared with us. – At first, I was in favor of taking them to study in Belgorod. After all, full-time education is better! But then she was horrified: after all, school buses can be fired upon along the way. The authorities, I think, will not dare to do this, because they still have not figured out how to safely organize the transportation of children, because in this case a large crowd of people cannot be avoided.

“Let the distance be better,” says the mother of a third-grade student. – We survived the second class, now we must withstand the third, even though it will not be easy. We, parents, must help our children with their studies, otherwise they will be left without education.

Residents of Shebekino also said that little is said about the shelling of the city, but they happen every day. Almost every day in Shebekino power outages. Hot water was never given to the majority (they promised it in mid-August). 600 Shebekin residents remain in TAPs (temporary accommodation points) who have nowhere to return, but new houses are being built. “Humanitarian aid has ceased to be given, there are no children on the streets, only workers are around,” a local resident described the current situation.
