In St. Petersburg, residents of the Moskovsky district began to receive SMS messages stating that if they fail to appear at the military commissariat, an administrative offense case may be initiated against them. It is necessary to come to the department, the text says, in the period from 12 to 18 August. “Kommersant” this information was confirmed in the military registration and enlistment office, they specified that they invite residents to verify the data.
“In the period from August 12 to August 18, 2023, arrive at the military commissariat of the Moskovsky district of St. Petersburg. … If you fail to appear, you may be prosecuted for an administrative violation,” the SMS said, screenshots of which began to appear on social networks.
“Yes, we are sending this, do it, everything is written there correctly,” said the Commissariat for the Moscow District.
However, the interlocutor found it difficult to answer what kind of article threatens those who do not listen. Presumably, this is Art. 21.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (“Failure by citizens to fulfill military registration obligations”). Punishment for it entails a warning or a fine from 500 to 3 thousand rubles.
Earlier, the head of the Duma Defense Committee, Andrei Kartapolov, said that such a mailing list was created for the convenience of citizens. The parliamentarian called it a “technical solution to the problem”, which simplifies the notification itself.
