In St. Petersburg, lions were dismantled from the pier at the Palace Bridge on the Admiralty Embankment of the Neva, it was reported “Fontanka” in the press service of the State Museum of Urban Sculpture. They were taken to a restoration workshop to “eliminate acts of vandalism.”

The Lions sculptures near the Palace Bridge are made of copper and were first installed on the Admiralty Embankment in 1832.

Cast iron pedestals on which the lions stood were also taken to the workshop. The museum did not specify what act of vandalism we are talking about. In September 2022, the sculptures were also dismantled for restoration after damage, cracks and rust were found on them.
