In the comments on the post of the governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov in VKontakte, a resident of the city of Shebekino complained about the lack of bread in stores. According to her, it is impossible to buy bakery products in shops in the evening. For example, yesterday, July 17, at the end of the working day, there were no bakery products in Magnit and in another grocery store on Oktyabrskaya Street.

“How and where can a person buy bread if the working hours are from 8 to 17 hours. The operational situation in the city of Shebekino does not allow after a working day to go around all the shops of Shebekino in search of bread, ”— wrote woman. She asked the governor to provide stores with essential products in full.

Vladimir Zhdanov, head of the administration of the Shebekinsky urban district, said in response that the assortment in stores is indeed significantly smaller due to the temporary suspension of activities and “consequences associated with damage to goods.” The official believes that the number of perishable goods and other products will increase as demand rises after residents return.

Currently, there are 35 grocery stores in the city, including six Iceberg supermarkets and two Larisa supermarkets. Shops, according to Mr. Zhdanov, resume work every day, and bakery products are delivered to them regularly. To obtain information about the work of retail outlets, he suggested contacting the consumer market development department of the city administration.

At the end of May, residents of Shebekino began to leave the city due to increased shelling from Ukraine. During the most powerful attacks in the area, hundreds of shells fell daily, resulting in the destruction of homes and infrastructure. By mid-June, less than 3,000 people remained in the city of 40,000. After the reduction in the number of shelling, people started to come backand the authorities have begun restoration work. By August 1, officials plan to complete repairs to the roofs and broken windows.
