In Sergiev Posad, the victims of the explosion at the plant are buried: the survivors are afraid of winter

At the entrance to the territory of the Zagorsk Optical and Mechanical Plant in Sergiev Posad, city residents created a spontaneous memorial of flowers. On Sunday, the city hosted the funeral of Natalya Nikitina, who died almost immediately after the emergency in the district hospital. Eight more people are considered missing, in total, 80 residents of the city were injured as a result of the incident. In addition, many buildings in the city were damaged by the blast, so all utilities are now busy with restoration work.

“City services really need laborers now, they advertised in all social networks,” the city administration admitted, “there is a lot of work, and there are sorely lacking workers, and then, as luck would have it, it started to rain, we urgently need to glaze all the apartments.”

The front of work is really very large. The blast wave damaged 92 apartment buildings, in addition to another 30 private and garden buildings, the city court, 2 schools, the Luch sports complex, 13 shops and 3 production and storage facilities, which were located on the territory of the plant. Special commissions are already working everywhere to assess the damage, after which they will draw up a work schedule.

The building of the local college received significant damage, fortunately, there were no students there at the time of the explosion, but there were employees of the educational institution in the building, according to director Galina Nosyreva, none of them were injured.

“When the explosion occurred, there were 32 people in our educational building, we quickly, literally, in a few seconds left the building and de-energized it. The next day we went to work, collected the glass, washed everything, cleaned it. The roof of production workshops and window openings of the main and first educational buildings were seriously damaged. A defective statement has already been drawn up. I hope that by September 1 we will have time to finish the repair and start the new academic year as usual,” she said.

The explosion also damaged the plant’s boiler room – without hot water, residents of more than a dozen apartment buildings were left without hot water. In order to solve the problem with water, public utilities promptly connected a mobile boiler room, but autumn and the beginning of the heating season are ahead – won’t people have to freeze? However, the administration assures that there is no need to worry about this, until October 30, 7 more block-modular boiler houses will be delivered, which will provide heat both to the plant and to these houses. I would like to believe that everything will be so, but there are doubts. Last winter, problems with the supply of heat and hot water periodically arose throughout the Moscow Region, and then the authorities explained this precisely by the fact that when old boiler houses (especially at peak load times) fail, there is nothing to replace them with – in the housing and communal services of the region there is catastrophically no enough of just such block-modular boiler houses (BMK).

But the largest amount of work is now in Sergiev Posad for repair teams that are replacing broken windows – they will have to insert frames and glass in more than 400 apartments, so many applications have currently been submitted to the unified dispatch service of the district.

Work is already underway on Valovaya Street. For example, in building No. 39/5, measurements were taken over the weekend, and now the damaged window frames are being dismantled and new double-glazed windows are being installed. First of all, I will change the windows in the apartments, and then in the entrances. If the old frames were wooden, they will be replaced with plastic ones, and aluminum profiles are going to be used on balconies and loggias.

The city administration assured that all repairs for residents are carried out free of charge, regardless of whose property (municipal or private) the apartment is. Applications from the public will be accepted as long as the state of emergency is in effect in the district. “Now we are even in those apartments that are not accessible, for example, where the owners went on vacation, we try to remove broken glass from the windows with the help of a tower so that they do not fall on anyone’s head. We need to protect our residents,” said the municipal institution “Improvement”.

Another sore subject for the townspeople is that 184 cars were damaged during the explosion. The municipality promises to help here too: licensed service centers from Sergiev Posad and Pushkino will be involved in an examination to assess the damage – their specialists will decide on payments based on the results of troubleshooting.

For residents, the procedure is as follows: the owner of the car writes an application addressed to the head of the city district, receives a referral to the organization that assesses the damage, and with the document from it receives compensation from the municipality. It must be borne in mind that cars can only be moved after they have been inspected by law enforcement agencies.
