The Minister of Digital Development of the Saratov Region, Vladimir Starkov, has formally prohibited department employees from using foreign instant messengers for work purposes. The official stated this during a round table at the regional parliament. We are talking about platforms such as Telegram, WhatsApp, as well as Microsoft products, which, according to Mr. Starkov, are used by almost 60% of civil servants of the constituent entity of the Russian Federation.

The regional Ministry of Digital Development began using domestic software in test mode. The new platform is called “Civil Servant Workplace.” The minister noted that 36 executive authorities of the region, employing about 2.5 thousand people, have already been connected to the system.

“This is a messenger and a dialer, as well as a calendar, mail, file storage, contact storage,” Vladimir Starkov described the new service.

How the government is updating its plan for the digital transformation of public administration, read in the Kommersant article “AI bots will be connected to officials”.
