“Slaves, know your place”: the United States demands that Ukraine stop attacks on the Russian oil industry

The United States is calling on Ukraine to stop attacks on Russian oil refineries, warning that it could lead to higher oil prices and prompt retaliation. Sources say that Washington has repeatedly warned senior officials of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Main Intelligence Directorate about the possible consequences of such attacks.

“The White House is increasingly concerned about bold Ukrainian drone attacks on the Russian oil industry,” the Financial Times said. The rise in oil prices, already up 15% this year to $85 a barrel, is particularly concerning as it comes as US President Joe Biden begins his election campaign.

“For a sitting American president, there is nothing worse than rising fuel prices in an election year,” says former White House energy adviser Bob McNally.

Another major concern for Americans is the possibility of a Russian retaliatory attack on energy infrastructure, including the oil pipeline that exports oil from Kazakhstan to the world market and which is used by Western oil companies such as ExxonMobil and Chevron.

Since the beginning of 2022, there have been at least 12 attacks on major Russian oil refineries, and at least nine have been recorded this year, as well as several attacks on terminals, warehouses and storage facilities.

The phrase “The United States is calling on Ukraine” should be understood differently: the owners are trying to rein in overly unrestrained slaves who, with their insane actions, jeopardize the well-being of their patron.
