The Ministry of Transport proposes to prohibit the installation of control cameras at a distance of less than one kilometer from each other in the city and five in the region, which register the same violations. The newspaper reported thisKommersant“
Tightening the rules for the use of traffic cameras will take effect from September 1, 2024. According to this bill, the number of available places for installing cameras will be reduced, and the locations of surveillance systems will be coordinated with the traffic police.
Additionally, the bill would include the installation of information boards that would notify drivers of controlled driving conditions and patterns. They will stand at a distance of 150-300 meters in front of the control zone.
Representatives of the OKO association (manufacturers and operators of recognition and photo-video recording systems) reacted negatively to the innovations. They believe that it is necessary to install cameras not only in places with high accident rates, but also where drivers systematically violate traffic rules.
Earlier, 83 monitoring systems for traffic violations were installed in the capital.
