Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Vladimir Region Vladimir Kiselev (United Russia) said that the possibility of introducing identification of users of computer games is currently being discussed. It is also proposed to establish a ban on the registration of “unsafe” gaming accounts for minors, said Mr. Kiselev.
The Commission of the Council of Legislators on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Investments proposes to the government to develop a system for identifying users of computer games, many “colleagues from regional parliaments” have proposed a ban on “unsafe” game accounts, said the head of the Legislative Assembly of the Vladimir Region.
“We consider it possible to propose to the government to consider the issue of establishing requirements for developers of computer games that are distributed on the territory of the Russian Federation to identify users through Russian identification systems,” said Vladimir Kiselev (quoted from TASS). According to him, for these purposes, in particular, services such as Sber ID and Yandex ID can be used.
In January, Alexander Khinshtein, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications (United Russia) spokethat the profile committee is ready to discuss the issue of age marking of computer games. So far, the Russian Federation uses international classification, but it does not always meet the needs of young Russians, so it is necessary to develop a national assessment system, Mr. Khinshtein noted.
As part of the discussion of the bill to ban LGBT propaganda, Yana Lantratova, First Deputy Head of the State Duma Committee on Education (“A Just Russia—For Truth”) suggested prohibit the distribution of computer games that promote pornography, cruelty and violence and contain profanity. This proposal was decided to be rejected.
Alexander Khinshtein explainedthat the wording proposed by the authors of the project against LGBT propaganda already covers video games.
