Rosstat: for the first time in Russia, the price of onion exceeded 70 rubles per kilogram
The price of a kilogram of onion on the Russian market for the first time exceeded 70 rubles. It is reported by RBC, referring to the data of Rosstat.
It is noted that the cost of onions in May this year rose to 73.3 rubles per kilogram.
“Even in May 2022, when large-scale disruptions were observed in the supply of imported goods to Russia due to disruption of logistics amid sanctions, the cost of onions was 29% lower,” the publication says.
The rise in prices for onions is associated with a poor harvest in Central and Central Asia due to severe frosts. In the cold winter, the vegetables in the warehouses went bad. In the spring, the authorities of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan banned the export of onions to Russia.
Le Temps previously wrote that Switzerland, for the first time in history, could start importing milk due to the shutdown of farms.
Prior to this, it was reported that stores may be allowed to give away products for free.
