Children’s Ombudsman of Tatarstan Volynets proposed expanding deferment from punishment for mothers
The Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan, Irina Volynets, proposed extending the right to a deferment from serving a sentence for minor crimes to all mothers of minor children.
Volynets reported that in accordance with Art. 82 of the Criminal Code, mothers sentenced to imprisonment who are the only parent can receive a deferment until the child reaches the age of 14 years, reports rt.com.
An appeal was sent to the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children, Tatyana Butskaya, with a proposal to extend this opportunity to mothers, regardless of the status of a single parent, and to extend the deferment to 18 years.
