Rospotrebnadzor scientists have developed the first vaccine against rotavirus in Russia. Clinical trials of the drug are now being completed. Production is scheduled to start in 2023, according to Rospotrebnadzor.
Rotavirus is an acute intestinal infection. Most often, they infect children from one and a half to two years. The main route of infection is from person to person. The infection is manifested by a state of intoxication, damage to the stomach and intestines, and severe dehydration.
“The main danger of rotavirus infection is dehydration of the body, which develops due to frequent vomiting and profuse diarrhea,” recalls Rospotrebnadzor in “In contact with”. Vaccination against rotavirus infection is included in the National Immunization Calendar according to epidemiological indications.
Now, as part of the National Immunization Schedule in Russia, all children from infancy to 18 years of age and adults at risk from 12 infections are vaccinated free of charge: tuberculosis, viral hepatitis B, pneumococcal infection, whooping cough, tetanus, diphtheria, poliomyelitis, hemophilic infection type b, measles , rubella, mumps and influenza.
