Managing Director of the network Tatyana Gribacheva explained 161.RU, that according to Russian government decree No. 1853 of 2020, a guest can only be checked in upon presentation of a passport. In case of violation, the hotel faces a fine of up to 750 thousand rubles.
“In the video from surveillance cameras you can see and hear that the guest did not have a passport, on the basis of which the hotel did not have the right to accommodate him. The administrator did not say a single word that the reason for the refusal was that the guest was a military man. Such a reason and similar statements cannot be voiced either in our hotel or in any other hotel in the chain,” Ms. Gribacheva emphasized.
Lawyer Timur Valiyarov, interviewed by the site, noted that, according to the government decree “On approval of the rules for the provision of hotel services in the Russian Federation,” check-in at a hotel should occur solely on the basis of an identity document. “Article 18 of this resolution contains an open list of identification documents, among which there is no military ID,” he added.
Previously, in the customs zone of the city of Millerovo, Rostov region stopped work of the Dobrynya Hotel, which refused to provide accommodation to military personnel who were returning from vacation to the special military operation zone (SVO). The owner of Dobrynya then explained that military personnel are not allowed to stay in the hotel, as this scares away other potential clients. In addition, the channel’s interlocutor added that usually military personnel behave badly, for example, they smoke in their rooms and leave a lot of garbage.
