A service center for the repair of Leopard tanks damaged in Ukraine has begun its work in Poland, Polish Minister of Defense Mariusz Blaszczak said on Twitter. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
The center is reportedly located at the Bumar plant in the Polish city of Gliwice. The first two tanks arrived there.
Earlier, Poland’s permanent representative to NATO, Tomasz Shatkowski, said that Warsaw and Berlin were soon preparing agreements and signing an agreement on the creation of a Leopard tank repair center. Later, the process was stopped due to disagreements, and the parties made claims against each other.
Since February 2022, the United States and the European Union have allocated billions of dollars for armaments for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Russian authorities accused the West of prolonging the conflict and stressed that military supplies to Kyiv would become legitimate targets for the Russian army.
