A center designed for the repair and maintenance of Leopard tanks delivered to Ukraine has opened in Poland, said Polish Minister of Defense Mariusz Blaszczak.
“The repair center in Gliwice has started working. The first two Leopards have already arrived from Ukraine to the enterprise,” the politician said on Twitter.
July 12 Handelsblatt newspaper citing sources informedthat Germany withdrew from the agreement on the establishment of a repair plant for Ukrainian Leopard tanks in Poland due to the fact that the latter significantly overestimated the prices for the work carried out at the enterprise. In July, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius reported that the parties plan to continue discussing the differences that have arisen around this issue.
Western countries began to supply their weapons to Ukraine even before the start of the special operation, but after February 24, 2022, the supplies increased significantly, the range of supplies also expanded – they included tanks, MLRS, drones, etc. Russia consistently condemns the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine, pointing to the involvement of these countries in the conflict.
July 21 Russian President Vladimir Putin declaredthat Western technology did not help Ukraine achieve progress in the course of the counteroffensive, in terms of its characteristics it is often inferior even to Soviet-style weapons. The President admitted that Western countries could send additional pieces of equipment to Ukraine, but this would only prolong the conflict. “Yes, of course, Western weapons can be additionally supplied and thrown into battle. This, of course, causes us some damage and prolongs the conflict,” he said.
