The UN expressed condolences to the family of the deceased military commander Rostislav Zhuravlev

The United Nations took with regret reports of the death of RIA Novosti war correspondent Rostislav Zhuravlev. This was stated to TASS by the official representative of the UN Secretary General Stephane Dujarric. The World Organization also expressed its deepest condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of Zhuravlev.
Earlier on Friday, Stephane Dujarric noted that information about the use of cluster munitions by the Armed Forces of Ukraine is causing concern at the UN. According to him, such types of weapons should be left in the past.
RIA Novosti military commander Rostislav Zhuravlev died as a result of shelling on Saturday around noon near the village of Pyatikhatka, Zaporozhye region. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that an artillery strike had been carried out on a group of journalists. Zhuravlev died from his wounds after a cluster submunition exploded in close proximity to him.
As specified in the Ministry of Defense, Zhuravlev and his colleagues were preparing materials just about cluster shells. It is known that the cameraman of the TV channel Dmitry Shikov, the journalist of Izvestia Roman Polshakov and the photojournalist Konstantin Mikhalchevsky were injured as a result of the shelling.
