Protesters in Paris have opened zoo cages and released animals into the city, videos have been circulating on social media.
The distributed videos show ungulates walking among the cars, as well as predators, including a lion. A large bird of prey was seen on the roof of one of the houses.
On Saturday, they buried a teenager who was shot dead by a policeman on Tuesday in the Paris suburb of Nanterre. The incident triggered a wave of massive overnight riots across the country. About 30% of the protesters detained in recent days, according to the country’s Ministry of Justice, are minors.
The French authorities decided to again allocate 45,000 police and gendarmes to ensure security in cities on Sunday night. A similar number of law enforcement officers worked on the streets of French cities the previous night, but riots could not be avoided. The city halls of Lyon and Marseille even requested reinforcements. The Ministry of Internal Affairs agreed to send police special forces to these cities, as well as armored vehicles and helicopters.
