In Orel, 1,678 people took part in the marathon “Along the Shore”

A charity half marathon was held in Orel for the second time “Along the shore”. This is reported in the press service of the city administration. 1,678 people took part in the action. This time the event was timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Orel from Nazi invaders.
The project was jointly implemented by the Orel administration and the Oryol social cluster. The half marathon was attended not only by residents of Oryol, but also by participants from other cities and regions. We are talking, for example, about athletes from Kursk, Tula, Arkhangelsk, Khabarovsk and Murmansk.
Athletes overcame distances of 21.1 kilometers and 5.2 kilometers. The youngest participants of the race ran 1 kilometer, and special children – 100 meters. Due to the heat on the routes, it was necessary to organize points for irrigation with water.
During the event, everyone was treated to porridge and tea, and artists performed on the stage. The head of the region Andrey Klychkov also took part in the race. Athletes came to the half marathon not to win, but to help special children in need.
According to the results of the race at a distance of 21.1 kilometers, Olga Kuprina and Yuri Yurchenko became the absolute champions of the half marathon. Recall that with the money that was raised during the sporting event, an inclusive playground will be built in Orel, where special children can spend time.
