Odessans are preparing for a cold winter. Since there is no need to wait for heat in the near future, public utilities are forced to stock up on firewood, as well as open a new type of social institution in the city – stationary heating points. MK learned about the situation in the port city.

The authorities of Odessa proudly reported on the opening of stationary heating points in the city in case of emergencies, which became known at a meeting of the head of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, with the leadership of the association of co-owners of apartment buildings. In total, there will be 141 points in the city, of which 67 points are located in shelters, and 68 more – in educational institutions, the rest of the mobile heating points will be deployed if necessary. The authorities recommended that management companies prepare houses for a hard winter by purchasing diesel generators, firewood and buleryan stoves, as well as creating a supply of food and drinking water. But the “icing on the cake” is the call to equip places in the adjacent territories where Odessans could cook food on fire. “Winter is ahead. In conditions when our critical infrastructure is regularly shelled, the city must be ready for any emergency,” Trukhanov summed up.

What do heating points look like in reality? You can take Kyiv as an example, where a heating point is open at a hospital outpatient clinic. It will function daily until the end of frosty days. At the heating point, they give out dry clothes and shoes, but only for a while, until the heated one dries his own. However, at the entrance to the heating point, you will have to show a certificate of COVID vaccination or wear a mask. The time spent is also limited – a person is given time only to warm up. The capital did not escape problems in the organization – many points in hospitals were entered into the database by mistake.

In the meantime, in preparation for winter, the city’s “zelentrest” has already prepared more than 400 cubic meters of firewood, but the authorities urged Ukrainians to buy other things that may be needed this winter on their own. After all, it is quite possible that you can not count on electricity and heating in winter. So far, Odessa has a floating power outage schedule – a maximum of four hours a day. Ukrainian politicians tried to warm the inhabitants of the city with hatred and anti-Russian gestures, once again winning back on the monument to the founder of the city, Catherine II. The other day, the head of the public organization “Green Leaf”, a local activist Vladislav Balinsky, desecrated the monument by putting a red rag on the head of the empress, and hanging a noose on his hand. The act of vandalism was approached thoroughly: a huge staircase was brought especially for Balinsky so that he could get to the head of the monument. The monument to Catherine had previously excited the minds of nationalists – they poured paint over it and covered it with inscriptions. The monument was even proposed to be demolished, but Mayor Gennady Trukhanov did not support this idea. Balinsky’s trick was condemned by many Odessans in social networks.

Ordinary Odessans are more concerned about the new wave of mobilization announced by the Kyiv authorities against the backdrop of huge losses at the front. Residents on social networks warn each other about patrols of military registration and enlistment offices. “We were waiting for confirmation along Chernomorka Street, and more than one person reported on the inspection of phones in this area and the distribution of subpoenas. The area of ​​Privoz and Preobrazhenskaya are subpoena devils,” Odessans warn on social networks.
