Heavy rain, which began in the capital at night, will last all day. Deputy Mayor of Moscow Pyotr Biryukov said that up to 30 mm of precipitation could fall before the end of the day.

“During the night, up to 19 mm of precipitation fell in some areas of the city,” Biryukov’s words are quoted by the telegram channel of the municipal economy complex. “According to forecasts, up to 30 mm of precipitation may fall by the end of the day on September 24.”

The total amount of precipitation per day in Moscow, as specified by the deputy mayor, will be up to 75% of the monthly norm. Meanwhile, the average precipitation for September in the city is 65 mm.

1.5 thousand emergency teams of engineering companies and prefectures of administrative districts are on duty around the clock. Crews and water pumping equipment are on duty on the streets of the capital.

In Moscow, due to heavy rains, an “orange” level of weather danger is in effect until midnight.
