In Moscow, they are studying the possibility of recording traffic violations when riding electric scooters and other personal mobility devices (PIMs) using cameras with artificial intelligence. This was reported by the head of the capital’s State Traffic Inspectorate, Alexander Bykov, in his article about the prospects for using digital technologies in preventing traffic accidents.
“In the context of the explosive growth in the use of SIM to reduce the level of accidents due to the fault of this category of road users, the possibility of recording the offenses they commit with surveillance cameras based on neural network algorithms is currently being explored,” said Alexander Bykov.
Using cameras with a neural network, it is planned to record driving through a prohibitory traffic light, not dismounting at a pedestrian crossing, as well as the transportation of passengers. Mr. Bykov noted the need to take control measures within rental companies that limit or prohibit the use of SIM by traffic violators.
