The number of pets leaving the capital through the airports of the Moscow air hub in 2022 increased by one and a half times. Experts attribute the sharp increase in the number of companion animals leaving with their owners to an increase in the number of trips of our fellow citizens abroad. According to the press service of the Rosselkhoznadzor Office for Moscow, Moscow and Tula regions, more than 63,000 air travelers became air travelers last year, which is 20,000 more than in 2021. Most often, cats and dogs travel by air. The department also attributes the increase in the number of four-legged animals transported by aircraft to the fact that it has become easier to pass through border veterinary control due to the introduction of electronic veterinary certification. Last year, more than 27,000 export veterinary certificates required for the transportation of animals were issued through it, 3,500 of them on the basis of an application previously submitted by the owners. By the way, experts recommend drawing up veterinary documents for taking pets abroad in advance, but no more than 5 days before departure.
