How reports La Gazzetta Del Mezzogiorno newspaper, Milan police detained a group of environmental activist vandals who attacked a neoclassical monument of the Napoleonic era – the Arch of Peace in the city center, erected in memory of the achievement of peace between European nations after the Congress of Vienna in 1815.

The publication clarifies that the group of vandals included five women and two men aged from 19 to 42 years.

“The police opened a case against those responsible for damaging the Peace Arch on the afternoon of November 15, around 16:00, in Piazza Sempione. Activists damaged the monument by spraying paint on it with a fire extinguisher,” the statement said.

The vandals also carried a banner demanding the establishment of an organization to combat climate change.
