Edition New Times.kz reported that in Almaty, doctors at a children’s hospital removed a kilo of hair from a schoolgirl’s stomach.

It is specified that an eleven-year-old schoolgirl complained of poor health, nausea and severe abdominal pain before being hospitalized. At first, the doctors thought that the girl had appendicitis, but after the tests, this diagnosis was not confirmed.

After an x-ray examination, it turned out that the schoolgirl had a foreign body in her stomach, which occupied almost the entire organ. It turned out to be a large ball of hair, soaked in mucus and food masses.

Doctors performed a laparotomy on the child and removed the foreign body. The student is currently recovering from surgery. Hair accumulated in the stomach because the child began to gnaw at the ends of the hair.
