In Astana, a resident of the city came to one of the polling stations with his sofa. He is also dressed appropriately – in home sweats and a T-shirt. Together with the furniture attached to the back, he barely squeezes into the door and goes inside under the surprised looks of the members of the election commission.

Early elections of deputies to the Majilis (lower house of parliament) and maslikhats (local representative bodies) at all levels are taking place in Kazakhstan today. For the first time, the lower house of parliament is elected according to a mixed system: 70% of deputies will pass through party lists, and 30% – through single-member districts. 7 political parties are admitted to the elections to the Mazhilis (283 candidates are running from them), 435 candidates are fighting for votes in single-mandate districts.

More than 12 million citizens of Kazakhstan can make their choice.
