Indian “double” diamond became the second after found in Yakutia in 2019
Indian television channel Wion reported that local diamond mining and processing company VD Global had found a so-called matryoshka diamond, that is, a precious stone, inside of which another precious crystal moves freely. The weight of the found double stone, named “Beating Heart”, is 0.329 carats (about seven hundredths of a gram).
“VD Global in the city of Surat in the Indian state of Gujarat discovered a “diamond within a diamond”, the rarest find of all,” the channel reported. The report indicated that the discovery of an unusual crystal occurred in October 2022 and remains one of the rarest. At the same time, Wion recalled with the Matryoshka diamond found several years ago in the Russian Federation.
“Matryoshka” was mined in 2019 at the Nyurba GOK, and, as experts noted then, it was the first such find in the history of world diamond mining.
