The Krasnoyarsk garrison military court found a contract serviceman guilty of leaving the military unit without permission (part 5 of article 337 of the Criminal Code) in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR). He was sentenced to five years in a general regime penal colony. The verdict was handed down on April 11.
The name of the convict has not been released. However, according to TASS, the man’s name is Buyan Tunay. “Wishing to temporarily take a break from military service and see relatives, the private without good reason did not arrive at the service, after which he left for the Republic of Tuva, where he spent time at his own discretion,” the message says.
The court found that the man arrived at the military commandant’s office of the Kyzyl garrison in November last year, where he reported on the “committed act”, therefore “his illegal presence outside the sphere of military legal relations was terminated.”
On April 11, 2023, after the verdict was announced, the serviceman was taken into custody in the courtroom. The verdict did not enter into force.
