The closure of the border with Russia led the Finns to unpleasant consequences, writes RIA Novosti with reference to the material of the Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat.
It is noted that due to the lack of tourists from Russia, the Finnish outlet village Zsar, located near the Vaalimaa checkpoint, has turned into a “ghost”. At the same time, the shopping complex went bankrupt in the fall, and now, according to the newspaper, you can only hear birds and the sounds of cars passing by there.
As noted, the complex was created specifically for Russian tourists, and the owners invested about 40 million euros in it. But first, the pandemic played a role, and then the decision of the Finnish authorities to close the border with Russia for tourists.
Helsinki announced the introduction of significant restrictions on the entry of Russian tourists from September 30, 2022.
