The Crimean authorities have long been preparing for the nationalization of the elite hotel of the singer Sofia Rotaru “Villa Sofia” in Yalta, Kommersant was told in the State Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The then prosecutor of Crimea, Vladimir Shuba, unsuccessfully tried to challenge the illegal privatization, noting that the building is an architectural monument and is included in the register of national cultural heritage, which is not subject to denationalization and privatization.
Now the Rotaru Hotel can be nationalized and sold at auction, like the apartments of the Zelensky couple in the elite residential complex “Emperor” on the territory of Livadia Park, which recently sold for 44.3 million rubles.
The three-story Sofia Rotaru Hotel, registered to its representatives, is located in a 19th-century mansion in the heart of Yalta – on the Lenin embankment next to the Black Sea. Before the revolution, the building housed the famous Rofe baths. In 2020, the singer tried to sell her hotel for €25 million, but did not find buyers.
