In Chelyabinsk in the yards they teach archery and yoga for free

The city has 1,200 outdoor sports grounds for practicing various sports – from football to chess. Maxim Kleshchevnikov, head of the department for physical culture and sports of the administration of Chelyabinsk, spoke about this at a press conference of the Granada Press media holding.

According to the speaker, there are 1,200 playgrounds in Chelyabinsk: 200 are on the balance sheet of the Sports City MBU, another 200 still have the status of ownerless, the rest are located on the territory of educational institutions or in the yards of apartment buildings. According to Maxim Kleshchevnikov, this allows the regional capital to take first place in the Ural Federal District in terms of organizing sites for free classes and in terms of the number of sports sold on them. Currently, more than 50 instructors conduct classes at 200 municipal sports grounds.

“The main types that we initially started to develop are hockey in the winter, in the summer – football, basketball, Nordic walking, general physical training classes, dancing. There are also chess and boxing classes. Last year, yard games began to be implemented at the playgrounds, ”said Maxim Kleshchevnikov, head of the department for physical culture and sports of the Chelyabinsk administration.

In addition, new destinations for free classes have also appeared this year. So, trainings are held in yoga, crossfit, orienteering and archery.

The speaker also noted that for several years the city administration has been conducting an inventory of all street sites. In the process of work there are ownerless and abandoned objects. With the help of some mandatory procedures, they are transferred to the balance of the municipality, and then they are equipped and put into working condition, thus giving the sites a second life.
