In Belarus, the founder of Nexta Putila was asked for 20 years in prison
The state prosecution has asked for 20 years in prison for the founder of the Belarusian opposition telegram channel NEXTA, Stepan Putila. This is reported Sputnik Belarus.
The former editor of the channel Jan Rudik was asked for 19 years in prison, and the former editor-in-chief of the channel Roman Protasevich – 10 years in prison.
Putila and Rudik were accused, among other things, of plotting to seize state power, organizing protests, insulting the president, and publicly calling for terrorist attacks. Protasevich was also charged with a number of charges, but he was not accused of conspiracy to seize power, since he “contributed to the exposure” of the suspects with his testimony. The prosecutor’s office also indicated that he pleaded guilty and made a deal with the investigation.
Putilo left Belarus, in one of the interviews he said that he lives in Poland. Rudik also does not live in Belarus. Protasevich was detained in May 2021 in Minsk after a forced landing of the plane on which he was flying.
