All schools in Astrakhan will be transferred to distance learning for ten days from December 14. This was reported in Telegram channel the head of the region Igor Babushkin following the meeting of the sanitary and anti-epidemiological commission of the region.
Mr. Babushkin noted that the reason for the suspension of the full-time educational process is the spreading swine flu in the region. “This is a fairly aggressive virus, which has not been recorded in such quantities in the region for more than ten years,” the governor said.
Igor Babushkin explained that in the districts of the region, the incidence is lower than in Astrakhan, so the municipalities can make the decision to close schools on their own.
“I urge all Astrakhan residents to reduce the time spent in crowded places as much as possible, and wear medical masks indoors. We are monitoring the situation on a daily basis. If necessary, additional decisions will be made regarding other educational institutions,” said Igor Babushkin.
