Roscosmos will launch nine Earth remote sensing (ERS) satellites in 2023. This was announced by the Deputy Director of the Department of Navigational Space Systems of Roscosmos Valery Zaichko.
“We plan next year to carry out about nine launches of spacecraft,” Mr. Zaichko said at the international conference “Modern problems of remote sensing of the Earth from space” at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (quote from Interfax).
We are talking about the following spacecraft: “Kondor-FKA” No. 1, “Obzor-R” No. 1, “Resurs-P” No. 4, two Meteor-M vehicles No. 2.3-2.4, two satellites “Ionosphere” No. 1 -2, Electro-L No. 4 and Arktika-M No. 2.
In 2024, the Resurs-PM No. 1 spacecraft, two Ionosphere No. 3-4 and Kondor-FKA No. 2 satellites will be launched into orbit, and the Resurs-PM No. 2 satellite will be launched in 2025.
Valery Zaichko explained that this is a “progressive result”, since last and current years the launches were difficult due to the difficult geopolitical situation.
Earth remote sensing satellites are used to observe the earth’s surface. A share of this they are equipped with various types of filming equipment.
