At the end of 2023, life expectancy in Russia was 73.5 years, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said when delivering his annual report to the State Duma. According to him, such indicators have never been recorded in Russia and the USSR.
“At the end of last year, life expectancy in Russia reached almost 73 and a half years. Which is higher than pre-Covid values. Such indicators have never been recorded in the history of the Soviet Union and modern Russia,” said Mikhail Mishustin.
The Prime Minister noted the importance of increasing the active and healthy life expectancy of Russians. To do this, according to Mr. Mishustin, it is necessary to develop high-quality and affordable medicine. He noted that the government pays special attention to citizens who cannot take care of themselves.
On December 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin, summing up the year, said that life expectancy in Russia was expected to be 74 years. According to him, this indicator reflects the efforts of the state in the field of economics and social policy.
On February 29, speaking with a message to the Federal Assembly, the head of state indicated that the average life expectancy of Russians by 2030 should be at least 78 years. According to the president, in 2023 Russia reached the pre-pandemic level in life expectancy.
