Newspaper Iltalehti reported that it has become much more difficult for Finnish citizens living in Russia to travel to their homeland due to the closure of the Finnish-Russian border.
Finnish businessman Jan Havi, who is a Finnish citizen and lives with his family in St. Petersburg, told the newspaper that he goes home to work on weekdays.
“Why can’t we open at least one checkpoint for Finnish citizens?” – he noted.
According to him, he also cannot get to Finland by car ferry through Estonia. The Baltic state does not allow cars with Russian license plates to pass through.
He clarified that the regime in force now is much stricter than the regime during the coronavirus pandemic.
