Former Minister of Defense of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Igor Girkin (Strelkov) said that he returned to Moscow from the war zone in the DPR on the evening of December 5. According to him, he was never enrolled in the regiment “under pressure” from above “”.

“I was (unofficially) informed that the ‘inconsistent’ enrollment in the NM of the DPR caused dissatisfaction with the ‘higher command’, but they assured me that this issue ‘would be resolved over time’, but for now I will fulfill my duties, formally holding a position private,” he wrote on his page in “In contact with”.

In November, Igor Girkin was sent to the city of Svatovo. According to him, for 10 days there he “tried to fulfill the duties of the battalion’s chief of staff regarding preparations for its upcoming combat use at the front.” There he found out that he was not “in a position in his battalion, but in general I was not listed in the states of the N-th regiment.” “Trying further to understand my status, I quickly established that I was also long gone from the lists of personnel of the N-th brigade (in the marching company of which I entered upon enrollment),” writes Mr. Girkin. Initially, he was enrolled for one day.

In his opinion, all this happened “under pressure” from above “”. Mr. Girkin believes that the command of the regiment knew about the situation, but “preferred not to report it.” “The establishment of all these circumstances made my further stay in the N regiment impossible,” he wrote.

This was the third attempt by Igor Girkin to take part in the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine, he notes. In August, the Telegram channels of Russian military correspondents reported that he was detained in Crimea while trying to enter the war zone. Then Mr. Girkin refuted this information. He noted that he was going to take part in military operations in the region in the future. On October 15, he announced that he had gone to the front.
