Researchers who have established that the hearts of lovers begin to beat in the same rhythm are among the Ig Nobel Prize winners. The ceremony of announcing the laureates was broadcast on the award website.
A large group of researchers from the Czech Republic, Holland, Great Britain, Germany, Sweden and Aruba found that “the hearts of romantic partners who immediately liked each other at the first meeting begin to beat in the same rhythm.”
The synchronization of the heart rate, according to their findings, should be considered a “spark” that lovers feel. The researchers who made the “romantic” discovery were awarded a prize in the Applied Cardiology category.
The Shnobel Prize was established in 1991 and is awarded for non-standard ideas and absurd scientific achievements. Since 1999, the prize has been awarded in 10 regions. The awards ceremony was previously held at Harvard University, in recent years the ceremony has been held online.
