A spelling mistake was noticed on a new monument to doctors in St. Petersburg

Residents of St. Petersburg noticed a spelling mistake on a new monument near City Hospital No. 2. The typo crept into the very Hippocratic oath, reports “MK in St. Petersburg”.

The monument to the feat of doctors was opened in Educational lane the day before. The memorial was dedicated to the hard work of Leningrad and St. Petersburg doctors. Both during the years of the blockade and during the coronavirus pandemic, they often saved people at the cost of their own lives.

The impression of the new monument, unfortunately, was spoiled by a mistake – it crept into the text of the Hippocratic oath engraved on the plate. “I will pass on written and oral teachings, as well as any other types of knowledge to my children,” this is how part of the text on the new monument looks like.

The Hippocratic Oath is a medical oath that expresses the fundamental moral and ethical principles of a doctor’s behavior.
