Mimosas, a day at the SPA and a flying lesson. “Kommersant FM” asked Russian businesswomen what women really want on the eve of March 8th. The majority of respondents said that they enjoyed the holiday and the attention from loved ones. Among the popular gifts: personal care services, flowers and joint vacations.

Many business leaders plan to take a break from management in the company of friends. And Kommersant FM’s interlocutors named kitchen utensils and decorations received from business partners as the most unfortunate gifts.

Founder of the Best-Novostroy company Irina Dobrokhotova: “I like this holiday, for me it is associated with school, when we made “bugs” for needles for our mothers. The mimosa given by our boys is better than roses and other expensive bouquets. Now I want something purely feminine, body and face care, not pots and pans. I just agreed with my daughter-in-law to go to the SPA, the men are giving us a four-hour session.”

Founder of Regale Centers for Innovative Dentistry Liliya Kuzmenkova: “The best gift is memories. Once I was given a flight in the cockpit, it was a great experience. March 8 is still a holiday when men congratulate girls. A young man should find out in advance what would be nice. Because I know many stories when they give a figurine because he decided so, or they take it somewhere in the Moscow region, and she herself lives in this Moscow region. For me, a good gift is charity; there is a foundation that I help. Flowers – yes, I will accept.”

Founder of the Orange Fitness and City Fitness networks Anastasia Yusina: “It sounds stupid, but this is really the day when you feel like a woman, you walk down the street and everyone smiles at you. I don’t expect big gifts; I can’t imagine March 8 without a mimosa. And even the worst day can be improved with a glass of sparkling wine. If I’m in the city on this day, I try to take my mother somewhere. About 15 years ago there was a flash mob, traffic police in Moscow stopped cars, it always seems to me that they want to unfairly accuse me of something, I’m so angry, I open the window, and they give me a flower and say: “Happy March 8th to you!” That’s the most memorable thing.”

General Director of Online Patent Alina Akinshina: “The best thing that can happen on this day is for there to be sunshine and real spring weather. It seems that Moscow will not be able to please us with such a picture this year; it will be just the opposite. With my colleagues, other women entrepreneurs, we live at work, so our favorite day off is to do something wonderful to move one step forward.”

Co-founder of the Sample gallery and the Blazar fair Alexandra Lekomtseva: “I have been married for more than 16 years, my husband taught me from the very beginning that there is no need to expect anything on March 8, it is a Soviet holiday. Therefore, I am waiting for a postcard from my youngest son and am preparing to congratulate my mother and my husband’s mother. Partners send symbolic gifts. From disappointments: when I was in school, I met a young man, and he gave me a mug. I cried for two days and since then I know that you need to tell us in advance what you would like to receive for the holiday.”

20% of women in Russia are indifferent to March 8 or are skeptical about it, a survey by the marketing research service “Kukushka” showed. 46% of women responded that they liked the concept of this holiday.
