I followed the rules of RUSADA and did not knowingly take doping – Kommersant

Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva said in an interview with the Japanese television channel NHK that she did not take doping consciously. A fragment of her interview with a Japanese channel was published in the Telegram channel Team Tutberidze.

“We are taking RUSADA courses, and I tried to follow the rules as much as possible. I was going to the Olympic Games and thought that this would be a wonderful celebration of sports. That this is the place for which you have worked and dreamed for so long. I arrived and received different emotions and a different attitude,” said the skater.

On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva for four years due to a positive doping test taken on December 21, 2021 during the Russian Championships in St. Petersburg. The banned drug trimetazidine was found in the skater’s sample. On February 7, CAS published the reasoning part of the decision, in which it indicated that the athlete’s positive doping test contained ecdysterone, trimetazidine and hypoxene. The athlete’s representatives claimed that the prohibited drugs entered her body accidentally, including through a strawberry dessert prepared by her grandfather.
