“I bought a red pen”: teachers talked about spending by September 1

On the eve of September 1, there is a lot of talk about how much parents spend on getting their child ready for school. However, teachers also spend personal funds to prepare for the new school year. They, just like the kids, need to update their wardrobe and stationery, so they cut out money for this from their modest salary. In a word, for teachers, preparation for September 1 is also a whole event!

Stationery, in theory, should be given to teachers by the school administration. But can she foresee all the necessary little things?

One of the teachers admitted in a teacher’s public that she spent 10,000 rubles. for three packs of paper, refilling the cartridge, alphabet magnets, markers … and even for redecorating your office. Several other teachers from various Russian regions complained that their school “has never given out anything and is not giving out anything.”

“My parents bought a printer and a cooler in elementary school before me, and when their children graduated, and I taught others, they came in October and asked to return it,” a teacher from St. Petersburg complained. – Workbooks are also purchased at the expense of parents, many teachers write about this in public …

The opinions of teachers on this topic were divided. Some are sure that the school is obliged to issue stationery, and even more so “nonsense” – to make repairs in the office at their own expense. Some teachers advised me to ask my parents to “throw down” – on paper and a cooler, for sure.

– Paper and cartridges should be asked from the administration, not from the parents! – commented “MK” on these messages. director of the secondary school in the village of Domnovo, Kaliningrad region, Pavel Telyatnik. – I can’t judge the situation in other regions, but my task as a director is to financially support the educational process. Everything in question relates to the educational process and, accordingly, must be issued by the school. Just like representatives of other professions, they are given a working tool or provide a workplace with everything necessary.

We have a small rural school with 250 pupils and 120 pupils of preschool groups. For the four years that I spent in the position of acting. director, I have never had a situation where I had to refuse teachers in consumables or in the purchase of equipment. If the equipment was expensive, then we had to save up, but in any case, after a while we bought it. We have also been giving out free workbooks for elementary school for three years already (and someone in public writes that they buy them at the expense of their parents). In general, our school, although it is small, is equipped with all modern equipment: from virtual reality glasses and quadrocopters to laser machines and 3D pens and printers.

But, as it turned out, even where there is no shortage of stationery in schools, many teachers prefer to buy school small things themselves to their taste. They say that this is their “professional”: they can’t get past the beautiful stationery “things”.

– I feel like a student at the school market! I love beautiful office supplies,” says mathematics teacher Aida from Ufa. – I buy beautiful notebooks, I bought a handmade diary for 3000 rubles. This year I allowed myself a lot. Last year’s pens evoke melancholy!

– I bought myself new shoes and clothes by September 1, but the office is a separate buzz! – admitted the teacher Svetlana from Novosibirsk. – Pens to write on the board, markers, ordinary pens, diaries – everything for yourself! But do you really think that I will leave all this when I leave one day? I’ll take everything with me when I leave…

Teachers, like schoolchildren, also want to be beautiful by September 1st. Someone did not stint on a good perfume by September 1, others share in social networks: “I bought a new skirt. One of these days I will buy a fountain pen with red ink. I think that’s all.”

“I used to spend a lot on school in the autumn,” says Anastasia from Magadan. “Now I’ve tempered my temper. Office, of course, I buy myself. But I knock out the paper at the school. Cartridges are also with a fight, but I knock them out. And so – after all, teachers have to spend a lot on clothes, especially women. Some “caprons” are worth something. – By September 1, of course, I want to update my wardrobe. Usually this is the purchase of several blouses, skirts, a new suit. But not all teachers can afford it, so they have the same wardrobe for years … In addition, preparing for September 1, teachers are buying up huge amounts of up-to-date methodological literature, which they consider necessary for teaching their subject. This is also a serious item of the personal budget, which the school does not cover. But the school provides me with all the stationery. Although I know that in many schools teachers themselves buy paper and refill the printer, and also purchase red pens. So August is a “hungry” month for teachers. But you want to look good for your students …

“I bought myself a suit and shoes (4,000 rubles), went to a hairdresser (6,000 rubles), an eyebrow specialist (300 rubles), a manicurist (1,000 rubles), – shared teacher Aigul from Kazan.
