Husband of writer Darya Dontsova, professor at Moscow State University, died of cancer

Writer Daria Dontsova told her fans the tragic news: her husband Alexander Dontsov, Doctor of Science, Professor of the Faculty of Psychology at Moscow State University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has died. The message, which appeared on Dontsova’s page on the social network, said that death occurred on March 8.

“After a severe, prolonged illness, Alexander Ivanovich Dontsov passed away to the Lord,” the obituary says.

The date and place of the funeral will be announced later. Dontsova’s entourage also indicated that “Agrippina Arkadyevna (the real name of the writer) will temporarily not be present on social networks.”

Last summer, Dontsova said that her husband was diagnosed with bowel cancer and that the disease was noticed rather late – in the third stage. Nevertheless, the man underwent surgery, several courses of chemotherapy, and the final examination showed a complete recovery. At the same time, the patient was ordered to see a doctor regularly, since relapses are not uncommon with such oncology.

Dontsova, against the background of her husband’s illness, urged everyone to lead a healthy lifestyle, give up bad habits, and also undergo regular medical examinations in order to be able to notice the disease as early as possible.

In the late 1990s, Dontsova herself was diagnosed with breast cancer. For two and a half years, the aspiring writer underwent several operations and many courses of chemotherapy. while in the hospital, Dontsova published her first detective novels. In the middle of the 2000s, Dontsova became the ambassador of a charity program of one of the cosmetic companies aimed at preventing and combating breast cancer.
