On the eve of March 8, it is customary to talk about women who have achieved certain results in “non-female” professions. But what about those who do the work – no less responsible, important and necessary, but … everyday, painstaking?

But let’s leave the gender division of labor alone. In JSC “Mosvodokanal” the female team is about 25%. What are the representatives of the beautiful half of humanity doing here and how will they celebrate their main women’s holiday?

Steps to clean water

It is known that Mosvodokanal JSC, the largest enterprise in the Russian water sector, is responsible for the water supply of the capital. It provides water supply to approximately 15 million residents of the capital and a number of settlements in the Moscow region. And to get into the water supply network, water goes a long way of purification.

There are four water treatment stations in the capital. Microbiologist 1st category Tatyana Komozorova works in the Rublevsky branch of the Water Quality Control Center of Mosvodokanal JSC. Rublevskaya water treatment plant is one of the oldest. But the constant improvement of technologies for the production of drinking water for the capital allows us to meet the challenges of the time and supply clean, high-quality water to the residents of Moscow and the Moscow Region. And the control of this important product for human life occurs continuously.

According to Tatyana Komozorova, the results of the research conducted at the Center for Quality Control make it possible to assess the water in Moscow as meeting the requirements of SanPiN “drinking water”. This was achieved thanks to effective methods of water purification using modern technologies of ozonation and sorption on activated carbon.

“We examine water in terms of organoleptic, physico-chemical, microbiological, virological and radiological indicators,” says Tatyana Komozorova.

Like all women in the team, Tatyana is preparing for the meeting of the spring holiday:

“For me, March 8th is the day the awakening begins. We seem to be in hibernation, and now we wake up and come to life. All our beauty, internal and external, also comes to life and wakes up.”

When Tatyana was a little girl, her father gave her and her mother a mimosa. Probably, many people keep such pleasant memories in their memory.

“It was something cosmic, then I felt very important and beautiful. I saw how my mother is preparing for the holiday. As dad takes care of her, the whole day it was a real holiday.

On March 8, men give us, women, warmth and attention. Sometimes, of course, we don’t have enough of it, but on this day we receive it in full, and it charges us for the entire current year, until the next March 8.

Modern facility of the industry

Mosvodokanal is the undisputed leader of the domestic industry not only in water supply, but also in wastewater disposal. Oksana Kalistratova works as the operator of the boiler house of the 5th category at the Kuryanovsk treatment facilities (KTP), which are the largest in Europe. WWTPs provide for the reception and treatment of domestic and industrial wastewater for almost half of the city’s territory and, in addition, a number of settlements in the Moscow region. Therefore, it is impossible to overestimate the scale of responsibility of the team that works for KOS. This work deserves a separate discussion. Since 2011, a large-scale reconstruction has been carried out at the Kuryanovsk treatment facilities, which was completed last year, making the WWTP one of the most modern facilities in the industry. As a result of the reconstruction, a new mechanical wastewater treatment unit was built here, a two-stage grate system was introduced, and the length of the sand traps was increased by 2.5 times. This made it possible to ensure deep removal of debris and sand from the drain, which means to exclude the influence of mechanical impurities on the biological treatment process. Thanks to the implemented reconstruction project, the quality of wastewater treatment has improved significantly, its performance meets the standards of the best available technologies. All this had a favorable effect on the ecological state of the Moskva River.

The boiler room, where Oksana Kalistratova works, is a “cog” of one complex and well-coordinated mechanism – the Kuryanovsk treatment facilities. Here, every detail of this large-scale production functions flawlessly.

According to Oksana Kalistratova, there are many components in her work that need to be known by heart. For example, this is the principle of operation of serviced boilers, the composition of heat-insulating masses and the main methods of thermal insulation of boilers, steam pipelines and pipelines. It is necessary to strictly observe the rules for handling equipment under voltage. Thoroughly study the device and principle of operation of centrifugal and piston pumps, electric motors and steam engines and much, much more.

And yet, the expectation of spring is also an exciting event for Oksana Kalistratova.

“On March 8, for some reason, I remember the school, when the boys gave the girls flowers, wrote postcards, gave gifts. March 8 for me is a wonderful women’s holiday, my family always congratulates me, my husband gives gifts. Definitely flowers. For me, this is a personal holiday, as if it were not common, but it was invented just for me. The whole world is for me, especially since it is spring, life is blooming, snow is melting. The sun is shining brightly – I want to live!

On the waves of the latest technologies

One of the key elements of the functioning of the Mosvodokanal system is the Central Dispatch Office. Here, all the main indicators of the operation of the city’s water supply and sanitation systems are monitored around the clock. The central control room is the heart of the organization.

Recent developments in the field of digital platforms for dispatching and the introduction of special software for automated control of the main technological processes and equipment allow not only to strengthen control over the operation of water supply and sewer systems, but also to increase the speed of response to emergency situations.

“We receive all the information about the work of all the capital’s water supply and sanitation facilities,” explains dispatcher Anna Vinokurova.

Information about what is happening with the Mosvodokanal infrastructure is displayed on two dozen large “video wall” monitors. Every year, the Central Dispatching Office receives about 12 thousand applications from organizations and citizens: after receiving one or another application, a complete picture of what is happening is available in a few minutes.

But the breath of spring is felt in this spacious room, more reminiscent of the Mission Control Center. Let’s ask Anna Vinokurova about her attitude to the holiday.

“Somehow recently there have been more and more holidays, we are adding new ones to the calendar, but for some reason I associate March 8 with mimosa, with warmth. After all, mimosa is like fluffy chickens. This Women’s Day is like a birthday in miniature for all women! After all, flowers are given to everyone on this day, congratulations to everyone.

From March 8, we feel the arrival of spring, not far off “May – peace – work.” And now spring is coming: the snowdrifts are melting, the streams are flowing, the kids are launching boats … Everything is fine. The cold cold is over – winter. Summer begins, warm, vacation. All this brings us March 8!”
