“Association Rosokhotrybolovsoyuz” sent an official letter to deputy Sergei Lisovsky with a request to assist in resolving the situation with the mass death of birds in the Stavropol Territory. In their message, hunters report that two new cases of mass death of birds have been recorded in the region – a total of about five thousand individuals, ducks and other game. Members of the association indicate that similar cases have already occurred in the region over the past year, there were appeals to various authorities, and checks showed that the cause of death of the birds was pesticide poisoning.

The letter states that a veterinary check was also carried out on the new case of mass death of birds. She confirmed that “one of the likely causes of death of animals may be pesticide poisoning.” Presumably, pesticides were used by agricultural enterprises to control rodents. However, the association is convinced that the number of rodents in the region is now small, and therefore there is no need to combat them with such measures. At the same time, the death of the bird harms the interests of hunters and wildlife, the authors of the letter note.

“Hunting users do not receive any compensation from those responsible for the death of animals,” the appeal says. “The wildlife is being destroyed for the sake of agriculture.”

In this regard, “Rosohotrybolovsoyuz” asked deputy Lisovsky to intervene in what was happening.

The head of Rosselkhoznadzor, Sergei Dankvert, also sent an appeal to the parliamentarian, confirming the facts of mass death of birds in the Stavropol region, presumably due to chemicals, and asked for assistance in solving the problem from the State Duma.
